A Break in the Weather.

After weeks of smoke haze and twilight conditions during the December and January bushfires, a summer storm rolls thru and as luck would have it I was there to witness this wonderful show.

    Time to leave...

There was something in the air that's been missing this summer, humidity - you could smell it on the breeze and feel it in that prickly heat.

After work I headed out to the lighthouse in the hope of catching a bit of fresh breeze and this was the sight that greeted me as I pulled into the carpark.

    On the face of it...

Nothing really panorama's quite like a storm and this is a great location for one. The Roll Cloud can be seen stretching from Past Port Kembla's "Hill 60" in the south east to Mt Kiera in the west.

    Three minutes...

This is 3 minutes worth of lighting rolling over the scene - the lightning tracker app on my phone reported the closest bolt at less than 5 kilometers - which, when you're standing on an exposed hill side with a metal tripod can start to become a little unnerving.

Interestingly I wasn't the only person with careless disregard for their own safety.

This bolt repeated so many times I caught it across two frames ..
