Milky Way over Minnumurra
Minumurra River, Kiama, NSW - on one of those sparking winters nights you dream of.. and with good numbers, for the morning I was very pleased to see how clear and not freezing this evening was.
Stack Island by Moonlight...
Such a breathtaking view by day I wondered how it may look by night and in 2018 I took the chance to find out on a clear evening. With Bass Point in the distance and the glow from Port Kembla on the horizon, this made for a very enjoyable outing.
Moonbow over Minnumurra
It's always the way ... there's something special about that first frame of the day ... What I saw was a pesky glow from the waning moon - what the camera saw was a moonbow sneaking into the pre-dawn glow.
The curtains come up and a hush falls over the audience...
The 'numbers' were good all week for a decent sunrise on this day ... light high cloud with no middle or low cloud. After last nights Milky Way shoot I had some trepidation that the clouds would arrive on time. Happily, they did ... what a privilege to be there to see this day in.
Big Dipper over Stack Island..
The magic that is Blue Hour...
Sentinels and Silhouettes...
This is the image I envisioned yesterday afternoon on a recce to the location just before sunset. it was the icing on the cake after the astro shots.
Warm end to a cold Start ....
This was a nice bookend to the morning, after being here last night I was surprised at how cold this dawn was. The contrail from the passing jet added a sense of abstract to this moment for me.
